Drumkeerin GAA club notes

August 03, 2010
JFC
Our Junior team lined out in the first round of the Junior Football Championship on Sunday evening. Taking on Allen Gaels in Carrick on Shannon it was hoped that a good performance may lead to a victory. It never materialised however with the team never really getting out of the blocks losing on a scoreline of 3-14 to -04.

Injuries
A number of players picked up injuries in the match and we wish them a speedy recovery.

IFC
Our Senior team are in action in the Intermediate Football Championship this weekend. We play Aughawillan however fixture has yet to be confirmed so check this paper for details. Good luck to the team and management.

Family Fun Day
Due to a number of fixtures last weekend's family funday was postponed until this Sunday at 2pm. Sorry for the change but it is sure to be a great event and hopefully we will see everyone there.

Race Night
A very successful race night took place in Davitts Bar on Sunday evening. Thanks to Francis and family for providing venue, Seamus Gallagher who was MC on the night, Eamon O'Grady for being auctioneer and Michael Forde and John O'Donnell for their organisation. In addition thanks to Seamus Duignan, Kevie Forde, Jason Byrne and Joe Earley for acting as bookies for the night. Finally thanks to everyone that bought horses and sponsored races for the night. Without your help it would not have been possible. Full information on sponsors will appear next week.

Under 8 and Under 10 blitz
A blitz has been organised for Under 8s and Under 10s against Ballintogher this Saturday morning. Can all players assemble at the field at 10am for the bus.

MFC
The Minors had a disappointing defeat away to Dromahaire last Wednesday evening. We are still in with a shout of progressing however and the team were in action last night (Tuesday). Good luck for the rest of the competition lads.

Under 14s
The Under 14 had a fantastic win against Bornacoola last Friday evening winning on a scoreline of 12-10 to 3-7. The lads played Leitrim Gaels on Monday evening and then travel to Glenfarne on Friday evening. Well done and good luck.

Minor ladies
Despite a great performance the Minor Ladies team went down to Dromahaire in the pitch last Tuesday evening by two points. They were in action again last night (Tuesday). The Junior ladies are also in action this week and will play at home tonight (Wednesday) before an away match to Aughawillan on Sunday. Best of luck.

Quiz
The fantastic tables quizzes that were organised by the Ladies team last year are back. The first of four night begins this Sunday in the Cosy Corner at 9pm with quizmaster Gabriel Flynn. Entry is €10 per head and hopefully we will see a great crowd there for what is a very worthy cause.
