Drumkeerin GAA club notes
July 20, 2010
IFC
The day our senior team have been building to arrives this Sunday with the first round of the Intermediate Football Championship. They have an excellent management team and have trained hard and let us hope that this can be there year. They take on Annaduff in Drumshanbo at 3.30pm. Please support.
ACL Division 2
In preparation for the championship our Senior team took on Glenfarne in Blacklion in the latest round of the All County League Division 2. A dreadful first half performance was to be our downfall and despite picking things up after the break we simply weren't not able to cut the deficit. Final Scoreline|: Glenfarne/Kilty 1-14; Drumkeerin 1-08. Well done to Glenfarne who, due to last Saturday evening's result, are now promoted to Division 2.
MFC
Well done to the Minor team and their mentors after their impressive win in the first round of the Minor football championship on Monday evening against Carrigallen. The final scoreline was 3-7 to 1-4. The team now travel to near neighbours Dromahaire next Wednesday evening for their next match.
Minor team sponsorship
Thanks to Tommy Rooney and the Cosy Corner for sponsoring training tops for the Minor Squad.
Under 14
Our Under 14s were unlucky in their defeat to Cloone last week. An impressive performance by an improving team was clear to see and they now take on Leitrim Gaels at home on Friday evening.
Under 8s, Under 10s and Under 12s
Training continues on Saturday morning at 11am.
Ladies
The Junior ladies side who are plying their trade at the moment short a few key players went down to a well drilled St Joseph's side on Sunday afternoon in the Division Three league despite an excellent. They now take on Cloone away at 12pm on Sunday. Best of luck.
Also congrats to Ladies' player Breda Travers who got married last weekend to Aidan McKeon from Drumshanbo.
Lotto
Lotto took place again last weekend. Numbers drawn were 14, 18, 22, and 26. Unfortunately there was no winner of the jackpot. Runner up €20 winners were Eamonn Smith, Pauline McMorrow, Margaret McPartland (Bray), Aran Wynn and Mary McPadden (Beagh). The draw also took place for the yearly lotto ticket raffle and the winner of €100 was Declan Kelly. Thanks to the sellers and everyone for the continued support.
Race night and family fun day
The countdown has begun for the annual race night and family fun day over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Posters will be up around the town advertising the events and as usual we are hopeful that everyone can join in and enjoy what looks like a great weekend.
Congrats
Congrats to Francis, Rosaleen, Francie and Thomas Davitt on the arrival of Sean who was born last week. Both mother and child are doing well.
