Glancy: Cavan were sharper
February 26, 2010
Leitrim hurling boss Kevin Glancy pulled no punches after last Sunday's Division Four defeat to Cavan at Kingspan Breffni Park, admitting that the hosts were the "sharper team".
Glancy's side fell to a 1-17 to 3-4 defeat at the hands of the Breffni men in their NHL opener and offered no excuses, but did feel that the visitors were guilty of missing several scoring chances.
"It is disappointing, we had hoped to win today's game, we had prepared as well as we had thought would help us to win. But it just didn't happen for us on the day," said Glancy.
"Cavan were a sharper team, it has to be said, and we just have to look forward from here and learn from today's experiences. Without trying to make excuses (for the defeat) we missed a lot of chances ourselves, particularly from frees when the game was there in the melting pot in the first 20, 25 minutes."
Leitrim now look forward to travelling to Enniskillen this Sunday to try and put things right against Fermanagh, in another clash that Glancy believes will be "tough".
"It's going to be another tough game, we are under no illusions about that. It is going to be a very tough game," he said.
"Hopefully, today's game will give us a bit of an advantage going into it, in that we know what to expect. We just have to work hard during the week and get ourselves right again for Sunday."
