St Mary's '58 team to be honoured at county final
October 03, 2008
Members of the victorious St Mary's side that won the club's first ever county senior football championship title back in 1958 are set to be honoured at this Sunday's county final.
It was 50 years ago this year that St Mary's defeated Ballinamore on a score-line of 0-8 to 1-3 in Ballinamore to capture the title and mark their first senior success, which the club would not follow up on again until 1995.
The team was captained by the late George O'Toole half a century ago and its surviving members will be honoured at the half-time interval of the senior final this Sunday at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
