Laois hurlers have been dealt a massive blow ahead of the Leinster SHC as talented forward Zane Keenan has opted off the panel for the remainder of the year.

The Leinster Express has reported that Keenan has told the Laois senior hurling management of his decision to drop off the panel stating that he couldn't give the necessary commitment required.

Keenan had only recently returned to the panel having decided not to come back after the Christmas break, but was persuaded to return late on in the league campaign.

The Camross player joins a long list of players that have opted off the panel this year, leaving them with a tough task in the forthcoming Leinster SHC.

Laois will play the second placed team in the round robin series in the quarterfinal of the provincial campaign, but the loss of Keenan is a huge setback for them.
