O Flatharta heartened by comeback

Meath's Donal Keogan moves in to block Donie Kingston's shot during the NFL Division 2 game at Pairc Tailteann.

Tomas O Flatharta was thrilled with the battling qualities displayed by his Laois side against Meath.

Trailing by 0-4 to 0-11 early in the second half, the O'Moore's rallied to earn a share of the spoils as they stepped up their bid to avoid relegation from Division 2.

"Five points down at half-time, I wasn't too concerned about it," the Kerry man said in the Irish Daily Mirror.

"I've seen these lads do their work in training and I knew there was more in them. But then we went seven points down and it looked a bit more daunting.

"However, John O'Loughlin brought us back into the game with some great fielding in the middle and he foraged forward an awful lot with the ball. I thought the difference in the second half was that we played more intelligent football, whereas in the first half we were kicking ball in and the Meath lads were eating it.

"But the lads themselves are very disappointed that they didn't get the two points out of it."
