Tough campaign to aid Arles-Killeen

October 15, 2014

Arles-Killeen manager Joe Higgins believes that the tough campaign that they have had will stand to them in Sunday's county SFC final.

For the second year running, they will face Portlaoise in the decider as they try to stop the town team from winning their eighth consecutive county title.

Higgins' charges have looked impressive this year as they have been forced to dig deep to grind out some of their results and the former county star stressed to the Leinster Express that can be very beneficial for them.

"In terms of preparation, we're not after getting any easy games, and you be hoping that might stand for something on Sunday," stated Higgins.

He added: "Defensively the lads are good. They are old style backs as such, they are man markers. They don't necessarily bomb up the field every time we have possession; they stay with their men and mark them tight.

"We're definitely happy going in, but we're going to have to be defensively ready the next day or you could be ripped to shreds very easily."
