Big day for hurlers

May 15, 2013
Laois hurling will be in all its splendour on Saturday evening as both the minors and seniors are in action at O'Moore Park.

Laois senior face Antrim in the Leinster senior hurling championship. The Saffrons defeated Westmeath in the preliminary round and that game will stand to them this Saturday.

Antrim have been installed as slight favourites to win this match, but if the Laois forwards can hit form then they will trouble the Ulster side's defence just like Westmeath did.

If Laois can curtail the influence of Antrim skipper Neil McManus that they will go a long way to booking a place in the quarterfinal and a meeting with Galway.

Meanwhile, the minors will be hoping to see off the challenge of neighbours Offaly when they clash in the curtainraiser to the senior match.

This is the last game before the break before the exams and Laois will be hoping for a similar performance to the one that they produced when they comfortably defeated Offaly earlier in the year.
