Critchley wary of Royals

Laois minor hurling manager Pat Critchley has stressed that his side won't be taking Meath for granted.

The sides meet in the Leinster minor hurling championship at Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon and the O'Moore County go into the match as strong favourites to advance to the quarterfinal.

Laois succumbed to a heavy loss to Kilkenny in the opening round, but they have a second chance to advance and face a Meath side that defeated neighbours Westmeath last Saturday.

Critchley explained to the Leinster Express that the current Meath minor side has always competed well with the stronger counties all the way up and he is expecting a tough match come Saturday.

"At this age grade, Meath have been strong all the way up along," said Critchley. "In one or two blitzes they surprised some of the bigger counties, so it wasn't a big surprise that they won. It won't be easy."
