Laois ladies manager Tom McKittrick feels there were some positives to take from their defeat to Cork in the NFL division 1 semi final.

Ten points separated the sides at the end of the match, but Laois' second half performance gave McKittrick and his selectors plenty to work on for the remainder of the year.

"We had a lot of young girls and they're all getting fitter and stronger. They will have benefited and to do that in the second half against Cork was huge," said McKittrick.

"We asked them that at half time. We knew that if we could dig something out of them, we'd go into our championship preparations as we wanted to, full of gusto and ready to get into the Leinster championship." Tweet
