Laois manager Teddy McCarthy has named his team for Saturday's Leinster SHC opener against Carlow at Dr Cullen Park.

With midfielder Joe Fitzgerald ruled out for the season on medical grounds and Sean Burke, John Brophy and Jimmy Walsh all injured, McCarthy has opted for a number of new faces. He is also able to call on established stars such as Matthew Whelan, James Walsh, Willie Hyland and Tommy Fitzgerald for the clash with Kevin Ryan's Allianz League Division 2 champions.
