St Fergal's pull out

May 03, 2012
St Fergal's Rathdowney have decided to withdraw from the All-Ireland Vocational Schools final, handing St Brigid's Loughrea a walkover.

The ongoing controversy of the semi final between St Fergal's and Nenagh VS resulted in the latter being thrown out of the competition, but the fact that the situation dragged on for so long frustrated St Fergal's.

In the semi final, a St Fergal's player was hospitalised after he was struck in an off the ball incident, which led to the match being abandoned.

And they made the decision to opt out of the final, citing the timing of the final with the Leaving Cert on the horizon, plus a pre-planned school trip as the reasons for the withdrawal.
