Laois minor hurling manager Seamus Plunkett
Laois manager Seamus Plunkett was delighted with the work-rate and fighting spirit shown by his team in last Saturday's Leinster MHC first round victory over Westmeath.
The O'Moore's prevailed after a thrilling finish to set up a meeting with Kilkenny on Saturday week.
"That win was very important. It showed the spirit in the team, the camaraderie," he told the Laois Nationalist afterwards.
"They worked really, really hard when the chips were down. I really am delighted for the lads. They are the most united bunch of players I've ever seen in a Laois dressing room. They are a bunch of players who want to play with Laois and that's very important.
"It was a very, very tight game, two ferociously competitive teams. When we look at the stats after this game - the blocks, the hooks - they will be very high for both sides. It was one of those games where the result had to be dug out. Some games run and flow, really classic hurling. But other games are tight and every ball has to be fought for, that's what we saw today from both sides."
