Mayo come to town
February 02, 2012
Laois begin their NFL campaign on Saturday night as Mayo make the journey to Portlaoise.
Following their O'Byrne Shield win over Wexford last weekend, the O'Moore County go into this game in decent form, although manager Justin McNulty believes there is room for massive improvement.
Having come up from division 2 last year, Laois' main priority will be to consolidate their place in the top flight, something that will not be easily achieved.
Laois go into the campaign minus a number of last year's squad for a variety of reasons and this certainly won't help their cause.
The likes of Padraig McMahon is gone travelling for the year, while Barry Brennan, Robbie Kehoe, Denis Booth, Daithi Carroll and Mark Timmons have all opted off the panel.
Throw in the fact that Donie Kingston has yet to return to the fold and Laois could be faced with an uphill struggle in the league, starting with Saturday night's clash against Mayo.
