Laois manager Justin McNulty was full of praise for star forward David Conway.

McNulty kicked four points from play in the O'Byrne Shield win over Carlow last weekend and he felt that Conway's battling performance, which saw him have a poor first half, before stealing the show in the second, epitomised the spirit in the team.

"I actually singled David out in the dressingroom, because of the character he showed after a poor first half where things were not going right for him," McNulty stated to the Leinster Express.

"Everything he touched seemed to mess up, but when we were two men down he decided he was going to take the game by the scruff of the neck and eke out a result, and he scored four points from play, four tough scores and showed real character in doing that." Tweet
