Laois manager Justin McNulty has urged the newcomers in the squad to impress him over the coming weeks.

McNulty handed debuts to a number of players for last weekend's O'Byrne Cup defeat to UCD, with Laois star Donie Kingston inspiring the students to victory.

The former Armagh star stressed that the new players in the squad should be showing a desire to impress over the next few weeks.

"I wouldn't say there was anyone who had a disastrous debut, some lads will have to be very happy with how they performed and I think they will be additions to the set up going forward," McNulty told the Leinster Express.

"If you can't be hungry on your first day out playing for your county then I don't when you can be hungry." Tweet
