Laois sharpshooter Michael John Tierney has denied he will return to his home club Ballyroan Abbey from Parnells.

Tierney transferred to the Dublin club in 2010 where he linked up with fellow Laois men Colm Begley, Colm Parkinson and Darren Rooney. Parkinson returned to play with his native Portlaoise last year and speculation had grown that Tierney might follow suit.

Laois midfielder and former Aussie Rules recruit Brendan Quigley is also on his way back to his home club Timahoe after an unsuccessful season with another Dublin club, Fingallians.

One of the most dangerous forwards in the country on his day, Tierney denied on twitter that there was any truth to the rumours which appeared in the local Laois press: "No truth in anything going round today! #funnywhatyouread". Tweet
