Three candidates for minor football role

August 27, 2010
Three men will be interviewed for the vacant Laois minor football manager's post.

The trio of candidates comprises Chris Conway, John Strong and Denis Lalor.

The latter stepped down from the position earlier this year following the O'Moore County's Leinster semi-final defeat to Offaly, but has now decided to put his name forward for a third term.

Knockbeg-based teacher Conway has tasted great success as a coach at schools level and managed Thomas McDonagh's in Tipperary last year.

Strong has managed a host of clubs, including Emo, Courtwood and St Manman's, whom he steered to the county IFC last year.

Meanwhile, Brother Philip Ryan has been appointed as Laois minor hurling boss for the forthcoming year.
