Healy opts for hurlers

March 13, 2010
Laois dual player Cahir Healy has decided to line out for the hurlers rather than the footballers tomorrow.

Both the footballers and hurlers are in action at the same time against Westmeath and Antrim respectively and, in what is a major boost to hurling boss Niall Rigney, Healy has opted to play in their National League Division 2 game in Casement Park, being named at centre half forward. Healy made his comeback for the hurlers during Tuesday night's win over Kildare just days after making his first appearance for Sean Dempsey's football side since Portlaoise's involvement in the All-Ireland club championship was ended.

Matthew Whelan, James Walsh, Neil Foyle and Owen Houlihan all come in to start for the hurlers as Brian Dunne, Eamon Jackman, Shane Dollard and John Purcell lose out.

Meanwhile, the previously suspended Denis Booth will make his first league appearance at full back for the footballers with Mark Timmons switching to centre back. Donie Kingston is named at full forward instead of Paul Lawlor, despite the fact that he is also due to line out against Westmeath in the Leinster under 21 championship semi-final next Wednesday.
