A deflated Sean Dempsey was at a loss to explain Laois' collapse to Kildare in Saturday's Leinster SFC semi-final.
"We are very disappointed with our performance. We thought we were well up for the game," he said.
"We were happy with the start, but you have to show more character when we let a goal in.
"When that happens, you expect a team to be able to lift themselves, but we just drifted and it was very difficult to get a foothold in the game after that.
"We don't seem to be beaten by a couple of points anymore. We either win or get hammered and that's not good enough and we hope to address that."
