Begley given AFL reprieve
November 30, 2008
Former Laois footballer Colm Begley has been granted a last minute reprieve to extend his career in the AFL.
Begley was released from his contract by Brisbane Lions last month after playing 29 senior games from the club, with injury during the last two season ravaging his stint their, but Melbourne outfit Saint Kilda yesterday made him the last of their six priority draft picks.
"He is ready to go if he performs," said Drain
"We know he has had some injuries (at Brisbane Lions) this year, but that happens, so we think he can add to the Saint Kilda Football Club."
However, if he is not chosen by St Kilda then a move back to the O'Moore County would certainly look to be on the cards for 22-year-old.
