Fr Murphy's v St Anthony's Ladies

January 09, 2012
On a bright Sunday afternoon during half time of the London Irish v Sale Aviva Premiership game at the Madejski Stadium, the footballers of Fr Murphy's and St Anthony's ladies, received a standing ovation from a crowd of over 8,000. In a fantastic exhibition of ladies Gaelic football, which was end to end stuff right until the end. The crowd were in fine voice and got behind both teams from the beginning, Eileen Brennan for St Anthony's and Sinead Daly of Fr Murphy's were prompting their teams on from the centre of the field, it was a game full of skill and fiercely competitive, with Fr Murphy's relying on a late goal from Aoif Ni Lionain, to win by the narrowest of margins, it was a great advertisement for Ladies Gaelic football, both teams will meet again in Kerry at the Comortas Peile Paidi O Se at the end of February.

After the gme at the Madejski both teams were entained to refreshments by Martin O Sullivan of The Gateway in Greyfriars Road Reading."
