Galway manager Micheál Donoghue knows that they will have to match Kilkenny's intensity if they are to claim the Leinster SHC title this weekend.

Donoghue will face the Cats for the first time in a final when his charges take to the Croke Park pitch on Sunday afternoon.

Having disposed of Westmeath and Offaly in the previous rounds, Galway will face their toughest test to date when they take on the defending All-Ireland champions.

And Donoghue admitted to the Tuam Herald that this was a step up for them, but he added that he is confident his players can rise to the challenge.

"Kilkenny just seem to do the same thing every day they go out and there's nothing new in that," said Donoghue.

"For the last couple of years they've always been the standard bearers and it's up to everyone else to match them and that's going to be no different on Sunday.

"It's going to be a totally different challenge in terms of intensity and what they're going to bring to the table. But our lads have been through a lot and have big game experience. There's a good spirit, a good vibe in the group at the minute and everyone's looking forward to it."
