Jackie Tyrell raises The Liam McCarthy Cup at Croke Park

Colin Fennelly has revealed that a half-time speech from Jackie Tyrrell provided Kilkenny with the inspiration they needed in the second-half of today's All-Ireland SHC final.

Brian Cody's men trailed Galway by three points halfway through the decider at Croke Park, where the Cats went on to outscore their opponents by 0-14 to 1-4 in the second-half for a 36th All-Ireland title and Fennelly says that the revival started with the words spoken in the Kikenny dressing room during the interval.

"Jackie Tyrrell at half-time; the speech he made was absolutely amazing," said Fennelly. "Jackie may have only one or two years left maybe and young lads hearing that coming on, it's amazing. His speech at half-time was absolutely unbelievable.

"He spoke for about a minute or two and every word he said, he had the hair standing on the back of my spine. It was unbelievable what he said.

"He spoke. Richie Power spoke and Michael Fennelly spoke and they're probably the three senior lads of the team and whatever they said went through to us and we came out in the second-half and did the business."
