Herity bids for more big ball glory

Kilkenny's David Herity.

Five-time All-Ireland winning Kilkenny goalkeeper David Herity will be hoping to help the Cats' footballers make more history on Saturday.

Herity has been one of the star performers for the Kilkenny footballers as they won the British JFC provincial title and are now preparing for an All-Ireland semi-final meeting against Mayo this weekend.

It was a huge success for the Cats' footballers as it was their first All-Ireland title at any level in football as they defeated Scotland in the final.

The Dunnamaggin clubman retired from inter-county hurling last year and he admitted to the Kilkenny People that it was great to be involved with the footballers.

"It's a nice change. You're able to play with no pressure," said Herity. He added: "After speaking to a few of the other lads who play football, you could see an opportunity there to go on and win something, create a bit of history and thankfully we've done that."
