Henry won't have to comment on Cats

New RTE hurling pundit Henry Shefflin has revealed that he won't have to analyse his former Kilkenny team-mates in the early stages of the championship.

The 10-time All-Ireland winner said yesterday that he will be excused from commenting on the Cats when they begin the defence of their Leinster and All-Ireland titles next month.

"I think the RTE thing would be that if you're involved with a county, you'd rather not, to be fair and neutral, which I think is good," he is quoted in the Irish Sun.

"Maybe later on in the year, who knows? But I won't be sitting commentating on the Wexford match (the Model men will have to win their quarter-final first), I'll be in the stands."

Asked why he chose RTE over Sky Sports, the recently-retired Kilkenny star explained: "It just came back to growing up watching The Sunday Game. That's what my parents watched, that's what my friends and family would have watched.

"It was probably something I was always drawn to. That, more than anything else, was the difference."
