May 01, 2012It will be their first clash in the final since 2002 when Kilkenny won by a point. Since then, Kilkenny have won the title four times (2003-2005-2006-2009) while Cork are seeking their first title since 1998.
Kilkenny were beaten by Dublin in last year's final while Cork's last appearance in the decider was in 2010 when they lost to Galway.
Cork's advance to the final is a tribute to the managerial powers of Jimmy Barry-Murphy who has presided over a major advance this spring. He was in charge when Cork last won the title in 1998. Brian Cody will lead Kilkenny into the final for the 8th time (2002-2003-2005-2006-2007-2009-2011-2012) and is seeking his fifth win.
Tickets for Sunday's Allianz Hurling League decider can be bought in advance from four SuperValu / Centra outlets in Kilkenny; 18 SuperValu / Centra outlets in Cork and online at gaa.ie/tickets.
A €5 discount also applies to stand ticket purchases only, made in advance before midnight Saturday. Tickets bought online can also be printed off beforehand to avoid any potential queues on the day.

A crowd of 6,874 saw Cork beat Kilkenny in an exciting counter. Kilkenny led by 1-10 to 1-8 at half-time but Cork were a more impressive force in the second half, edging to victory in a game where Patrick Horgan was their top scorer on 0-8. Richie Power top-scored for Kilkenny with 1-11.

A crowd of 25,036 saw Kilkenny sub, Brian Dowling score a later point to take the title for the first time since 1995. Kilkenny led by 2-6 to 0-2 at one stage in the first half but Cork recovered and were only five points behind at the interval. Cork maintained momentum in the second half and drew level but Dowling's late point won the day for Kilkenny.
