DJ remains in hospital
April 26, 2012
Contrary to reports, DJ Carey wasn't released from hospital yesterday.
The Kilkenny hurling legend, who collapsed while waiting to fill out forms at Kilkenny city Garda station on Tuesday morning, spent a second night in St. Luke's Hospital last night after undergoing tests at Dublin's St. James' Hospital earlier yesterday, and will undergo further tests at Waterford Regional Hospital this morning.
His brother Martin, who is a former Kilkenny goalkeeper, told the Irish Daily Star last night: "DJ is back in St. Luke's and he won't be released now until tomorrow at the earliest.
"He underwent an angiogram in St. James' Hospital this morning and the doctors saw something - I'm not sure what it was - that they didn't like.
"I've just been in with him there in the hospital and he's in good form. They'll do another test in the morning and we'll know more then."
Admitting that the Carey family were perplexed by reports that the 41-year-old had been released from hospital yesterday, Martin added: "One thing I think DJ would like is if the quality of care he has been receiving in the hospital was highlighted. And I know he'd like to thank everyone for all the support."
