John McGrath and Jim O'Connor have been named joint-managers of the Kilkenny footballers.

The pair will take charge of the Noresiders for their imminent NFL Division Four campaign, dispelling fears that the Black & Amber might not be able to field in the competition, having already withdrawn from the O'Byrne Cup.

Manager Dick Mullins had also stepped down, leaving the county's big-ball game rudderless, but his former selectors McGrath and O'Connor have stepped into the breach, agreeing to take charge for the 2012 season.

Kilkenny returned to the national football league in 2008 after close to a decade in the intercounty wilderness. Tweet
