Kinsella concerned by new proposals

National fixture restructuring places Kilkenny's clubs under pressure, says Paul Kinsella.

GAA top brass has advocated a major overhaul of national fixtures, including putting back the All-Ireland SHC semi-finals and finals.

Cats chairman Kinsella believes this is going to make life difficult for clubs in Kilkenny, who will struggle to make the mid-October cut-off point for Leinster club championship participation.

"Clubs face serious decisions," Kinsella comments in The Kilkenny People.

"Our function when sitting down to make the fixtures every year is to keep everyone involved as late into the season as possible.

"If everything ran smoothly, we might meet the Leinster deadlines, but if we had replays or objections to deal with, or anything like that, the whole programme would run late."

Clubs will have an opportunity to discuss what they wish to do regarding this year's domestic championships at Monday night's County Board meeting.
