14-year-old has new hurl design idea
December 21, 2011
When it comes to hurling, Kilkenny are the masters and a school girl in the county has come up with a business idea for creating decals for hurls and helmets.
The young girl in question is Sarah Kent who hit upon the idea when she compared her hockey stick to a hurl. The hockey equipment came with colourful designed decals on the side whereas her hurl was just simple ash.
The Kilkenny People reports that Sarah came up with the idea for decals or stickers, that are specially made for hurls and helmets so that players can modify their own GAA equipment.
And this was no half hearted plan, as the Kells native consulted the Kilkenny County Enterprise Board, a local graphics company and even former Dragon's Den star Sarah Newman.
The accessory packs are selling well at the local Christmas Market at the Parade in Kilkenny and also online.
