Kilkenny star Cha Fitzpatrick has joked that he will have his retirement party in Mexico.

Speaking in an in-depth interview in the Kilkenny People, Cha, who received his All-Ireland medal at a function in Langton's Hotel, recently revealed that he will head off to Mexico on the county team holiday.

"We will enjoy that trip," said Cha. "Last stop Mexico! That will be my going away, retirement party."

Fitzpatrick felt that he had fallen out of favour with Brian Cody this year as his appearances for the Cats were severely limited, but he stressed that he is leaving on his terms with no bad feeling towards anyone.

"I am making a decision for myself. I am making the call on my terms. I have the greatest respect for the lads. There was no argument, bust up or anything like that." Tweet
