Hogan out of All-Ireland final

Kilkenny's Brian Hogan
Kilkenny centre back Brian Hogan will miss the All-Ireland hurling final after suffering a broken finger in training on Wednesday night.
Hogan, who was already recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in Kilkenny's semi-final win over Cork, was ruled out after visiting a specialist in Waterford yesterday. The O'Loughlin Gaels clubman suffered the injury after getting his hand caught in an opponent's jersey and Cats boss Brian Cody has admitted that he will be a big loss.
"Brian has been fighting injury for the past few weeks really," Cody said.
"First he was a doubt going into the Cork game with a finger injury, he got over that, and then shipped a heavy knock to his shoulder and was gone after 15 minutes or so.
"He fought that injury very, very hard, did everything right and then got a finger injury. That's hard going on any player, and it's really tough altogether for any player to miss an All-Ireland final."
If cruciate ligament victim John Tennyson is also ruled out, it will leave Cody facing a major dilemma.
Former Kilkenny star and manager Pat Henderson believes there are others capable of stepping into the pivotal centre back role.
"My view is that they'll go for the direct replacement. Paddy Hogan, James Ryall, PJ Delaney, they're all capable of playing centre-back, a straight swap without any shifting around of players, and all are very, very good hurlers," he said.
