Kilkenny's Tommy Walsh
Kilkenny star Tommy Walsh has emerged as an injury doubt for next month's All-Ireland hurling final against Tipperary.
The 2009 Hurler of the Year yesterday became the latest Kilkenny player to undergo a cryotherapy session at White's Hotel in Wexford after injuring his shoulder during a senior league game between his club Tullaroan and James Stephens. Walsh collided with his county colleague Jackie Tyrrell during the second half, but played on before being replaced 10 minutes from the end.
Leaving the ground with his arm in a sling, Walsh was taken to hospital for tests and subsequently travelled to Wexford to undergo a cryotherapy treatment at the same facility which treated Henry Shefflin and Brian Hogan last week.
With Shefflin already ruled out of the All-Ireland final due to a knee injury, Kilkenny can ill-afford to be without their outstanding half back as they close in an historic five-in-a-row. John Tennyson, Michael Rice and Brian Hogan are also currently on the injury list.
