Speaking about the Association Golf Classic Camogie President Joan O'Flynn: "Many former and current camogie players are active golfers and this event is a fantastic opportunity to combine two sporting interests, golf and camogie. It promises to be a great social occasion; a chance to reconnect with friends and enjoy a round of golf at a fantastic course. Also, with our Gala senior semi-finals taking place on Saturday in Nowlan Park, those attending on Friday have an opportunity to see four great teams in action the next day."
The event invites teams of four, both male and female to participate at the picturesque 18 hole golf course.
A weekend of top sporting action is in store as the Gala All-Ireland Senior camogie semi-finals take place in Nowlan Park the following day, Saturday, August 14th. Champions Cork face Galway while Leinster neighbours Wexford and Kilkenny play in the second tie.
Kilkenny manager Ann Downey, the holder of twelve All Ireland medals and a keen golfer, urged camogie fans to support this year's golf classic and the double header camogie fixture at Nowlan Park.
Downey, who managed Kilkenny to last year's All Ireland final losing to Cork acknowledged that her side has a tough task on their hands against Wexford.
"Any semi-final is tough and all of the teams remaining are of top quality so there is no such thing as an easy draw. We will have to be at our best to overcome Wexford, but we are looking forward to the challenge."
