Rice doubtful for semi

Carrickshock and Kilkenny star Michael Rice.
Kilkenny midfielder Michael Rice is in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the All-Ireland SHC semi final next month.
Rice, who has been in exceptional form so far this year, broke a bone in his hand when playing for Carrickshock against Erin's Own last Friday evening.
Even though, Kilkenny are not due to play the semi final until August 8th, it is leaving little time for the talented midfielder to return to full fitness.
"Time is certainly against him. It could go down to the wire whether he makes it or not," said Kilkenny selector Martin Fogarty.
Rice has started the year as first choice midfielder, but faces tough competition to keep his place as both James Cha Fitzpatrick and Derek Lyng are vying to get back into the side.
