Reid eager not to go missing in action

Leinster Council Chairman Seamus Howlin presents the Leinster SHC Cup to Kilkenny captain TJ Reid.

A Kilkenny hurler working on his weaknesses in the game is something that is not heard too often, but captain TJ Reid has stressed that he has worked hard on his, in recent times.

Reid is regarded as one of the top forwards in the country, but the perfectionist believes that there are areas of his game that need to improve in order for him to keep his place in the side.

The Ballyhale Shamrocks clubman lifted the Bob O'Keefe last Sunday, but he knows that being captain does not guarantee him a starting place in the side.

"If you want to improve you have to work on the weak parts of your game and try to eliminate mistakes. My weakness is my work rate. I work for five minutes and stop. I have to get over that," said Reid.

"Henry for example, is working, working the whole time. I have to follow his example. I think about it in training and try and work harder all the time, chasing and hooking and blocking. Henry is the one I try and emulate. He is not just a scorer. His work rate is terrific."
