Leinster IHC: Kilkenny ease past Dubs
July 08, 2010
Kilkenny 1-21
Dublin 0-11
Kilkenny sealed a third provincial title in just four days yesterday as they eased past Dublin at Nowlan to claim this year's Leinster Intermediate Hurling Championship crown.
The Cats never looked in danger of suffering an upset once Bill Beckett cracked in the game's only goal after just three minutes, as they whisked past their capital opponents on numerous occasions to open up a 1-10 to 0-2 lead by the 22nd minute.
Dublin revived themselves a bit after that and struck three unanswered points, with Kevin O'Loughlin helping to lead the charge, but they had an Alan Nolan penalty saved by Liam Tierney just before half-time which severely dented their hopes.
It didn't take long before Kilkenny found their stride again in the second-half to re-open a ten-point gap from which Dublin could find no way back.
