Kilkenny manager Brian Cody
Brian Cody lauded his Kilkenny players after they stormed to a sixth successive Leinster SHC crown yesterday after a 1-19 to 1-12 defeat of Galway at Croke Park.

The Cats turned on the style with a sizzling second-half display and afterwards Cody gave his thoughts on how his team put the Tribesmen away:

"I'd say we got a decent start, we got a goal early on but they got a goal back, and I'd say for the last ten, possibly 15 minutes of the half, they dominated and came at us really strongly.

"Obviously the first ten or 15 minutes of the second-half we got on to a great bit of form and tapped over some great points. We got a decent lead early in the second-half and we certainly had the opportunities to put more daylight between us and we didn't take it.

"In the end, it was comfortable when the final whistle blew, but all along they were capable, the danger was there of pulling it back, but it was a great win for us."

The Kilkenny boss in now delighted to be through to the last four of the All-Ireland series as his team bids for a record fifth Liam McCarthy Cup on the trot.

"The Leinster title is a tough thing to win. We are thrilled we won it because it gets you into an All-Ireland semi-final and that is a huge prize," he added.
