Galway the big threat, says Delaney
June 18, 2010
Kilkenny legend Pat Delaney has warned that Galway are a real threat to the Cats' hopes of claiming a 67th Leinster SHC crown next month.
Brian Cody's men travel to Croke Park on Sunday to take on Dublin in the last four of the province with a place in the final against either Galway or Offaly awaiting the winner and Delaney believes that the Tribesmen are the ones to watch as far as his native county are concerned.
"Of the teams in Leinster, Galway look the most dangerous as far as Kilkenny are concerned," said Delaney.
"Galway coming into Leinster helped things a good bit, especially at a time when Wexford have slipped back. Galway are not too far behind us. They have improved a good bit since last year."
The three-time All-Ireland winner also admitted that he would like to see last year's beaten finalists Tipperary progress through the back-door, as long as it's not at Kilkenny's expense.
"I would like to see them (Tipperary) back in the contention in the championship. They add something big to hurling. It is great around Kilkenny when Tipperary are facing us," he added.
