Following their success in the All-Ireland club IHC, St Lachtain's have been dealt a blow ahead of the new season.

The team's coach Gordon Ryan has announced that he is stepping down from his role before the squad go back training for this year's campaign.

Ryan played a massive part in St Lachtain's success along with manager Mick McCarthy and the rest of the backroom team, but he has decided to take a break from the game.

"I informed the club some time ago that I would be stepping back after the All-Ireland club series, and that still stands," said Ryan.

"I cannot give the commitment I have been giving while at the same time go flat out in trying to get the new company established."
