Lyng in for Cats

July 04, 2009
Derek Lyng returns to the Kilkenny midfield for tomorrow's Leinster SHC final against Dublin at Croke Park. The Emeralds clubman replaces team captain Michael Fennelly in the only change from the side that defeated Galway in the semi-final a fortnight ago. Lyng missed the NHL campaign through injury, but made a big impression after coming on for Fennelly against the Tribesmen and is rewarded with a start on this occasion. John Tennyson continues at centre back in the absence of Brian Hogan, who is still a couple of weeks away from making a full recovery from the broken collarbone he sustained during the NHL final against Tipperary two months ago, while under 21 star Richie Hogan has to be content with a place on the subs bench once again. Last year's All-Ireland winning captain James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick and TJ Reid are also named among the substitutes. Kilkenny (SH v Dublin): PJ Ryan; M Kavanagh, JJ Delaney, J Tyrrell; T Walsh, J Tennyson, J Dalton; D Lyng, M Rice; H Shefflin, M Comerford, E Larkin; E Brennan, R Power, A Fogarty.
