Lyng lauds 'unbelievable' Larkin

June 26, 2009
Derek Lyng has praised Kilkenny team mate Eoin Larkin for last Saturday's match winning display against Galway which has helped the Cats to another Leinster final. Lyng came on as a substitute against the Tribesmen, who looked as though they were going to spring an upset against the All-Ireland champions in Tullamore. "As a player you always want to be out there from the start. Galway flew out of the traps, but we knew they were a dangerous team - give them that kind of leeway and they will punish you. They started off well, but we eventually dig our way back into the game," said Lyng. The Emeralds attacker pointed out that some of the scores Kilkenny registered in the second-half at O'Connor Park were simply undefendable. "Brian (Cody) has always preached to us the importance of the panel. When you come on you try to do the best you can, but lads like Eoin Larkin picked off some unbelievable scores out there. "Scores like that would kill any team," Lyng added. "The lads got points you couldn't defend against. Eoin carried on his form from last year - I thought he was outstanding, making and taking scores out there - and helped us get to the Leinster final, which will be another challenge for us."
