Shefflin: No talk of four-in-a-row

Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin has reiterated that there has been no talk of winning a fourth consecutive All-Ireland hurling title among the Kilkenny players. Unlike in previous years, Brian Cody's all-conquering side face a difficult championship opener against Galway at Tullamore on Saturday evening, and Shefflin insists they are not looking beyond that. "There was no talk about the three-in-a-row last year until we got the final," he said. "You have to get there to put yourself in that position for that talk. "We have been lucky at the start of each year we have been able to say 'we are All-Ireland champions but we are there to be shot down and this is a different year'. "The league final, irrespective of the result, showed that on any given day it is a two-horse race and anything can happen." He continued: "Galway, Tipperary, Cork and Waterford are all up there, but on any given day there are eight or 10 teams that can beat anyone else. "Galway are a quality team coming into Leinster and Antrim are a good team as well. It is a different kind of buzz for everybody involved and it is going to be interesting to see what way it turns out. Something new is obviously something good."
