Cody happy to know opposition 'at last'

Kilkenny manager Brian Cody
Kilkenny boss Brian Cody says he is glad to finally found out who his side will be playing in the semi-finals of their year's Leinster SHC after so long in the wait. Last Sunday evening's draw threw up the mouth-watering clash in Leinster that had been anticipated as Kilkenny face newcomers Galway next Saturday week, June 20 at O'Connor Park, Tullamore, and Cody is just glad to know exactly what he's up against. "It was good to find out at last," said the Cats manager. "Knowing exactly who you are playing is all part of the build-up to any game, so it was good to finally find out our opponents. "Who in particular we might be drawn against didn't occupy my mind too much. But we needed to know who we were playing so we could focus exactly on the opposition. "This is part and parcel of it. Nothing much has changed for us from this time last week. We will be ready." Obviously, the All-Ireland champions are favourites to advance through to the provincial decider, but Cody is not looking towards any meetings between the sides in recent tournament competitions or the league, as this is championship. "The results of those games will have no bearing in this match," insisted Cody. "This is the championship. This is totally different. "Any time Kilkenny and Galway play the result can go either way. Galway are an excellent team, and on their day, can beat anyone, and I mean anyone."
