Ronan Sweeney was highly influential as Moorefield battled their way to a 0-11 to 1-6 victory over Celbridge in yesterday's Kildare SFC semi-final at St. Conleth's Park.

The former county star kicked four first half points before having to leave the field injured in the 49th minute. Moorefield scored two points immediately after his departure, but were left hanging on after Celbridge hit three unanswered points in the closing stages.

The Newbridge outfit led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the break and tagged on two further scores after the restart before a David Hughes penalty in the 36th minute brought Celbridge back into it. But Moorefield prevailed to set up a final date with the winners of next Saturday's semi-final between champions Sarsfields and Confey.
