Franks guides Naas back to final

September 21, 2016

Naas manager Donal Franks admits that it has been way too long since the club last featured in a county SHC final.

However, the town team have ended a 14-year wait since their last appearance in the showpiece final following their 2-18 to 1-17 win over Eire Og Corrachoill in last weekend's semi-final.

The former Birr and Offaly player knows a thing or two about winning county titles and his experience will be invaluable over the coming weeks.

Speaking to the Leinster Leader, Franks admitted that winning the title is all that the players want.

"It's a long time since Naas have been in a county final, 2002 I think, so obviously it's great to be back there," said Franks.

"It's good for the lads themselves too, while the majority of them are young, they've been trying to get there for a while now.

"Some of them are hurling at senior level now a long time even though their ages might suggest otherwise. We've added a few more from the various minor and under-21s who have won championships in recent years and the fruits of that, and all the other hard work that has gone on over the years are coming through."
