Fenton keen to continue dream

September 30, 2015

Ardclough manager Cathal Fenton is just 60 minutes away from guiding his charges to the county title in his first year in charge.

Fenton only stopped playing for the club last year and immediately took over as manager. In just his first season, Ardclough are back in the county final for the first time since 2008.

The long serving player admitted to the Leinster Leader that he thought long and hard before about taking on the role and manage many players he has played with.

"It was something that I did talk about with a few of the older players," said Fenton. "Obviously I was a team ahead of most of them but I took this on as a job; I made it clear from the off-set and set some boundaries.

"I set a target early on in the year and watched the attitudes of the players as time went on as we hit targets, surpassed some and re-evaluated others.

"But this isn't just about me. There is a management team there and together we have tried different things; some have come off, others haven't but together we have kept pushing ourselves, with the county final always our primary target."
