U15 ladies match report

Half time score Castledermot 2-5  Balyna 0.02
Full time score Castledermot 4.13 Balyna 2.05
Castledermot ladies had another great win today when their u15's team were victorious in the county final against Balyna. The bank holiday Monday game kicked off in Hawkfield at 11:30am. Balyna started off the stronger team with 2 well taken points in the first 10 minutes. Castledermot settled when Emma Kirwan got their first score when she blasted the ball into the Balyna net. Nessa Dooley wasn't far behind her with a well taken point. Emma Wall was next to get her name on the score sheet when she took a hand pass from Maria Doyle and popped the ball over the bar from an impossible angle. Nessa Dooley got another point followed by one from wing forward Amy Keogh. Emma Kirwan got the last score of the first half when Jayne Redmond worked the ball into the forwards, hand passed it to Emma who had an easy shot on target. Castledermot led at half time 2-5 to Balyna's 2 points.

Early in the second half Nessa Dooley was awarded a free which was converted by Emma Kirwan. Emma went on to score a further 2-6 in the second half. Nessa Dooley was the only other scorer for Castledermot in the second half when Emma Kirwan took a 45 which was won Lauren O Gorman who hand passed the ball to Nessa who slotted it over the bar. Balyna made a late comeback managing to score two great goals in the space of 5 mins along with 3 points. Unfortunately they had left it too late and Castledermot ran out easy winners.

Scorers for Castledermot were Nessa Dooley 1-3, Emma Kirwan 3-8, Amy Keogh 0-1 and Emma Wall 0-1. Best for Castledermot were Roisin Horan and Jayne Redmond in the backs and Emma Kirwan in the forwards. The mid field pairing of Emma Wall and Nessa Dooley also had strong performances as did goal keeper Kevina Nolan. Well done to all 20 players and to the two girls who were missing today who played their part in getting to the final.

A huge thank you to the massive crowd who turned up today to cheer on the girls and to all the parents who travelled to the games throughout the year.

The club are looking forward to the minor semi final which is on the 8th November in Ballymore Eustace. Let's hope we can make it 3 championship wins out of 3.

U15 Girls Division 2 final 27/10/14

Ballykelly 2-12 Milltown 1-9

Ballykelly u15 girls saw their efforts for the year finally rewarded on an overcast Hawkfield centre of excellence on the Oct bank holiday weekend. The girls could be forgiven for thinking that the Kildare venue was turning into an unlucky venue for them having come up just short in the last few games there but a massive effort from them saw them banish the hoodoo that Hawkfield seemed to hold over them with victory in the division 2 decider over Milltown.

Ballykelly started the brighter and got the first two scores, the first after good work from Alanna McLoughlin in midfield won the ball and offloaded to the ever willing runner Sarah Hanlon and when she drew the marker she laid off the ball to Thea Kemmy who in turn fed in Doireann Fahey for the easiest of scores. On the restart it was Ballykelly who won the ball again in midfield and centre back Shannon Grant went on a run and kicked a massive score from fully 30mtrs. It was starting to look like it was going to be a one sided final as Ballykelly were dominant in the key areas.

Milltown were not for lying down however as the responded and a Ceire Boland score reduced the deficit to the minimum. The game was held up shortly after as centre back Shannon Grant suffered what appeared to be a serious facial injury and had to go off. It was Milltown who seemed to settle after the break in play and started to dominate in the key areas. Ballykelly were defending well and kept the scores in this period to a goal, a free from Mary Hamilton which looked like it was going over the bar but somehow ended up in the roof of the net.

Ballykelly responded in style and points from Doireann Fahey, a pointed score after Katie Walsh was pulled to the ground and a well worked score from Sarah Hanlon after good work from Alanna McLoughlin in midfield and Ballykelly had opened up a small gap. Milltown responded with 2pts from Ellie O Neill. The last score in the half went to Ballykellys Sinead Fahey after Alanna McLoughlin saw her effort at a point drop short and Sinead was on hand to finish low to the keepers left for a goal. Referee Seanie Duane called the half to an end with Ballykelly leading on a scoreline of Ballykelly 1-6 to Milltowns 1-4

On the restart Milltown dominated the early exchanges without getting any real reward for their efforts, a point from centre forward Lauren Murtagh all to show for a sustained period of dominance but strong defensive work from Ballykellys Laura Cleary, Rachel Ryan, Mia Supple, Alana Baker, Emma Doolan and the ever willing Saoirse Jackson who was always willing to take on her opposite number to launch attacks into the Milltown half. Midway point in the second half and Ballykelly were starting to dominate around the middle third and good work from Doireann Fahey launched scores from Sinead Fahey pt, a goal from substitute Annie Curran, points from Thea Kemmy, Alanna McLoughlin, and two from Sarah Hanlon and it was looking like it was going to be Ballykellys day.

Milltown responded with points from Anna Murphy from a tight angle and the hard working Lauren Murtagh but the final whistle came too soon and it was Ballykellys day. Captain Laura Cleary led the celebrations thanking her team, her mentors Tommy, Ciaran and Tom and congratulating Milltown for their efforts on the day.

For Milltown Lauren Murtagh, Aimee O Neill, Mary Hamilton, Anne Sweeney, Anna Murphy tried hard
For Ballykelly Saoirse Jackson, Doireann Fahey, Alanna McLoughlin, Sarah Hanlon, Mia Supple, Thea Kemmy can all be proud of their efforts.

This was a squad effort as throughout the league campaign every player contributed massively to the league triumph and all can be very proud of this great achievement.
