McAndrew puts heartache behind him

October 08, 2014

Coill Dubh forward Adrian McAndrew admits that winning this year's county title made up for the disappointment of losing five deciders in the last eleven years.

Since winning their last county title in 2003, Coill Dubh have suffered at the hands of Celbridge on five occasions since and relief was the over riding emotion for McAndrew.

Speaking to the Kildare Nationalist he said: "When I was growing up the lads who I hurled when I was starting out always said that the first ten years were the hardest; in my experiences the last ten or eleven years have been a whole lot harder.

"The only thing I can really say is that I have seen both sides of it now; I have seen the good sides and the bad sides. I have won a lot and probably lost more but definitely today outshines everything. You have got to realise that these things don't happen every year and when they do you really have to enjoy them."
